condensed milk and semolina tart
A real treat for condensed milk lover, this delicate and easy tart is worth trying! Tastes great with homemade fruit sauce or on its own.
ingredients
6 filo pastry sheets
400 g condensed milk
750 ml whole milk
50 g semolina
1 teaspoon vanilla paste or extract
4 medium eggs
around 60 g melted butter
a tart dish, greased with butter
instructions
1. Mix the condensed milk, eggs and whole milk in a large pan.
2. Cook over a medium heat and bring to simmer.
3. Slowly add the semolina flour while stirring.
4. Continue cooking the mixture for a few more minutes until it thickens slightly.
5. Stir in the vanilla paste and take off the heat. Leave aside.
6. Place one filo sheets on the bottom of buttered pan. Brush well with more butter and cover with another filo sheet. Continue until you run out of pastry.
7. Pour in the mixture into the pan lined with filo.
8. Fold the edges of pastry to form a decorative rim. Brush the edges with the remaining melted butter.
9. Bake in 180 C for around one hour.
